How we started YAMACOON.
My wife Morag and I met 16 years ago and have always had a love of cats and animals in general. We have loved and lost many pets in our time together, through old age or illness but have always done everything in our power to help our pets lead a good life.
Three and a half years ago we purchased our first Maine coon a beautiful girl called "Kira", this is when our fascination for the breed began. We discussed it a lot between us but nothing really came of it until 2 years ago when we decided this is what we want in life and the planning started.
I contacted every South African breeder that I could find but not one of them would agree to sell us cats with breeding rights, some of them were downright rude to say the least, it was then that I turned my sights overseas and found Lucille Clarke-Smith of Majesticoon. Lucille understood our plight and agreed to help by selling us our 2 foundation females, Princess Diana and Princess Stephanie. I then went in search of a foundation Male and came across Iceberg of Laguna Leo in Labinsk Russia and duly purchased him.

We have since bought another 2 girls from Lucille, the beautiful Princess Madeleine and Princess Zara, this will give us a much wider scope for the possible colours that we can breed.
Our second boy Hector AKA "Churchill" shall be arriving early December from Spain, thank you to Kim of Kimkoonz for helping us to complete our selection of foundation cats.
